R&D support for product development

Do you have an idea of a product with the SUNFIBRE® technology? Let’s create it together! We provide our partners with research and development support precisely for these cases.

We chiefly specialise in the fields of wearable electronics, flexible light-conducting optics, wearable sensors, and modern LED components. The SUNFIBRE® technology that we developed stands at the top of the worldwide market of active wearable lighting. We hold several patents, and our products meet the standards for an array of strict international certifications. Our R&D team is constantly working to perfect our current solutions as well as to develop new product generations.

Development collaboration on new solutions

We often collaborate directly with clients to develop products from the very outset. SUNFIBRE® technology can even be accompanied by various types of sensors or other features.

They include:

  • sensors that respond when submerged under water (e.g., when someone falls into the water),
  • detectors that respond to impact – airbag activation during an accident turns the light signalling on (e.g., the Antifall system for workwear, motorcyclists, and cyclists)
  • systems that respond when the product changes positions (e.g., a backpack that shines when in motion and automatically turns off when set down).

Support throughout implementation

We provide clients who want to implement SUNFIBRE® technology into their products with expert support when designing the solution so that the final product achieves the optimal functional and design characteristics.

We’re primarily a production company, which is why we only complete development for projects that take part in our long-term production.

Also, be sure to take a look at our case studies that show how we’ve helped our clients solve specific technical challenges.

Linde Material Handling

SUNFIBRE and the Equiray team collaborated to develop a special safety vest for Linde Material Handling.

The vest featuring the SUNFIBRE system increases the visibility of persons in motion, e.g., in storage facilities. Thanks to the anti-collision sensor by Comnovo, the vest automatically starts flashing with high intensity when near a forklift truck. This alerts both the vest wearer and the forklift driver of the collision risk. Once distanced from the forklift, the system returns to its standard lighting mode.

There is great interest in similar anti-collision systems in the mining industry in South Africa and Latin America. We currently supply thousands of these systems annually.

SUNFIBRE supplies thousands of these systems annually.

Thule Chariot Sport 2

We developed a unique lighting system for the THULE Chariot bicycle trailers for the Swedish company THULE.

The goal was to improve the trailer’s visibility on the road as well as support its design. That’s why we designed a new lighting system that uses the standard SUNFIBRE® technology components – lighting cable, LED diode, control button, and power bank charging. Instead of our usual fabric implementation, here the lighting cable was integrated into the trailer’s fixed aluminum frame.

The light distribution is provided by a special optical component (prism optic), which helps meet the requirements of the EN 15918 standard. The product received an array of certificates, including the K-mark from TÜV. THULE also received an iF Design Award for this bicycle trailer, with its integrated high-visibility lighting being one of the features recognised by the jury.

Today, we produce and supply tens of thousands of these systems annually for the Chariot Sport 2.0 model, and we’re also collaborating with THULE to develop solutions for other products.
